WTCAA Location Amersfoort
The municipality of Amersfoort would like to go beyond the purely local economy. This would involve Amersfoort expanding beyond its existing collaboration in the Eemland region to strengthen its regional roots in the Northern Tier of the Randstad and the Amsterdam metropolitan region.
This region encompasses Schiphol-Haarlem-North Sea Canal area-Amsterdam-Almere-Hilversum-Amersfoort-Utrecht. Within this region, Amersfoort is the Eemland area’s central city. Using and strengthening this central function is a prerequisite, according to the Van Ek Committee. A second important reason for collaboration within the Northern Tier of the Randstad is that higher levels of government (Europe, national, provincial) increasingly view regions as their partners rather than individual municipalities. Their goal is to bring about a kind of regional development in which local governments work well together, both among themselves and with private entities. The Board of the WTCAA regards the Amersfoort region as a key stakeholder and would like to engage it in further activities of the WTCAA. That is why the WTCAA launched a special program in 2010 for Amersfoort and environs.
In early October of 2010 the WTCAA Location Amersfoort opened its office doors in the Chamber of Commerce’s ‘Ondernemersplaza’, or “Entrepreneurs Plaza”. The WTCAA Location Amersfoort is staffed by a project leader who is supported by other WTCAA staff.
